This Tiny Charger Replaced My Phone and Laptop Power Adapters

The Ugreen Nexode Air Slim 45W is compact enough to disappear in my travel pouch but powerful enough to replace two chargers.

This Tiny Charger Replaced My Phone and Laptop Power Adapters

I can’t think of a single instance where I wanted my power adapter to be bigger and bulkier. I’ve constantly wanted more power from chargers, but never a larger size. The Ugreen Nexode Air Slim solves that need with 45W of power in a size suitable for a fifth pocket on a pair of jeans.

Not only is the Nexode Air Slim 45W a compact power adapter, but its slim design means it can fit behind furniture or in other tight spaces.

I’ve been using the Nexode Air Slim 45W for a few months, and it's earned a permanent place in my travel pouch for two reasons. The first is because it's powerful enough to charge my iPhone or MacBook Neo at full speed. The other reason is that it disappears in the pouch and takes up almost no room.

This charger fits in a pair of jeans' fifth pocket

The raw dimensions of 2.4 by 1.7 by 0.5 inches might not convey how petite this charger is, but it's microscopic to hold. Of course, the size is good for carrying in a bag or even a pocket. But the shallow depth and narrow width mean that it doesn’t overtake a whole AC outlet. I also like that it has folding prongs.

It's not all vanity though. The Nexode Air Slim is capable of 45 watts of max output. Higher than the iPhone 17 Pro’s max power acceptance of 40 watts. That means, at peak performance, you can charge the phone from 0 to 50% in about 20 minutes.

The MacBook Neo’s maximum power input is between 30 and 35 watts. So, it can also handle the Neo's full power needs. This device can be your laptop or phone charger at any time.

In my use, that’s exactly what it is. I’ve traveled with it and use it as my one charger for all my USB-C devices. Because even if a device can accept more than 45W of power, it doesn’t need to.

For example, even though a MacBook Air can accept higher wattages than a Neo, for faster charging times, using a 45W power adapter won’t cause problems for it. The computer will just charge slower than its max speed.

There are considerations for this tiny charger

The Nexode Air Slim 45W might have a lot going for it, but it’s worth pointing out the obvious drawbacks. Primarily, it’s a simple charger with only one port. There’s no rectangular USB-A port or second USB-C one for dual charging.

There’s no screen on it like some other chargers. So, it can’t show you power usage or temperature.

Another consideration might be its down-facing USB-C port. Depending on what your specific needs are, this might be a blessing or a curse. For crowded power strips, it might not fit as well. While it will work great for a lot of places, it’s not a universal fit for every outlet type.

Should you buy the Nexode Air Slim 45W?

The Ugreen Nexode Air Slim 45W is a no-frills power adapter. Its main feature is its size-to-power ratio. Although differently shaped, this charger offers nine times the power output of Apple’s original 5W iPhone charger, in an overall size not much bigger than that one.

Although a lot of power adapters look similar online, in pictures, this one has a much nicer fit and finish than a lot of other chargers I’ve tried.

The slim shape might not fit the kinds of outlets you use. But if it does, then this is an ideal charger for a laptop, phone, or tablet.
