Reebok's new running shoes take on Nike's Vomero Plus—and treadmills
I road-tested the Reebok ZigFloat Double running shoes, and they're great. Plus, they're $40 cheaper than Nike's alternative.
Each year, I run between 1,200 and 1,300 miles. In 2025, one of my favorite pairs of running shoes was the Nike Vomero Plus. They’re ultra-cushioned, but still have a responsive ZoomX foam midsole. I used them for longer distances, but I've been able to run quick, shorter distances too. For people intrigued by the Vomero Plus, but not crazy about the $180 retail price, Reebok now has an alternative with its new FloatZig Double running shoes.
I’ve been using the Double for a couple of weeks now, putting close to 50 miles on them, and they’ve performed great. I’m impressed with Reebok’s latest offerings for runners, especially considering the FloatZig Double shoes retail for $140, or $40 less than Nike’s. Here’s a look at the Double, as well as Reebok’s other new running shoes made for indoor, treadmill running, the FloatZig Tread.
Reebok FloatZig Double offer comfort for all kinds of runs

My long runs have been in the five to six-mile range while using the FloatZig Double. While they’ve handled that distance well, I have no doubt that they would work just as fine for twice that amount. The SuperFloat+ Tech and dual-density midsole make the shoe plenty cushioned and comfortable. My feet have never felt achy afterward.
I’ve used several of Reebok’s FloatZig running shoes and durability has never been a problem for me. The Double features a full-length rubber outsole. That should help with extended use. The trade-off is likely the 11.4-ounce weight.
The Nike Vomero Plus might have a high stack, but that running shoe only weighs 10.3 ounces. The Vomero Plus also features a 10mm drop, while the Double has a 6mm drop.
Can I actually tell a difference in weight between the two shoes? I think so, but maybe it’s a placebo effect. The Double isn’t too heavy, but I wouldn’t want it to have any more weight. I’ve also enjoyed the padded upper. I’ve barely even thought about the heel lock or any of those parts of the shoe because they’ve disappeared from my mind.
I hesitantly bought the Vomero Plus when I found them on sale, and they turned out to be one of my favorites. Now, the Reebok FloatZig Double are proving to be a worthy competitor. One big reason to consider them over Nike’s shoes is that they retail for $40 less. And even if the Double is more of a direct competitor with the Nike Vomero 18, they still undercut those in retail price by $15.
Reebok has other new running shoes, too

Reebok’s other new running shoes are meant for the treadmill. The FloatZig Tread are a low, or lower, stack height with a specialized midsole shape for a smooth ride. The shoes feature an 8mm drop and weigh 9.1 ounces.
The SuperFloat midsole is stabilized with an EVA rim and should provide at least some cushioning, despite the minimal height. Even though these are intended for treadmill running, I put them to the test on the road. The upper panels felt great, along with the tongue. They feel lighter than their 9.1-ounce weight.
After 3 miles, my feet were a bit sore, not being used to minimal foam. So, these could certainly benefit from the softer surface that treadmills provide. In that case, I could see these being great for that use. You don’t want a tall foam stack for treadmill running.
I’ll be bringing the Tread on work trips, when I’ll likely be using the hotel gyms and only short outdoor stints. I think they should work well for this use. And although the Tread aren’t cheap, their $110 retail price means that they’re more affordable than a lot of other running shoes.
